NICVA’s commitment
NICVA organises a lot of conferences and events. We want to practise what we preach and so Building Tomorrow's world will be a carbon neutral event. Queen's University will calculate the carbon output of the conference and we will offset it.
We will keep the paperwork to a minimum. The tea and coffee we will be serving is fair trade. The food for lunch will be locally produced with as few food miles as possible. We will be using video conferencing for the first time for some of our speakers.
We will be encouraging participants to come by public transport or share cars and will help them do this by organising an online car pooling forum.
This is an experiment for us and we hope it works. If it does it will become the model for any future events we organise. Keep an eye on the website to see how we get on or contact lisa.mcelherron@nicva.org.
